Our goal was to streamline the business and increase flexibility by removing IT complexity and cost. This was required as we had a history of growth through acquisition and we had inherited a lot of disparate and legacy IT, typified by 70% of our applications only being used in one Business Unit.
What did we do?
We began to baseline the business against a Target architecture, scoring the business groups against a standardisation index.
We then used the target architecture and posture as a communication tool for the alignment and prioritisation of investment and activity between the business and IT.
Finally, we worked with each Business Group and their senior stakeholders to create the tailored transformation roadmaps that will increase standardisation and remove cost.
We can now track the ROI($) of projects that are driving technology simplification in the business through standardization, whilst removing operational risk by removing legacy technology.
